Welcome to the EDI-SEF files wiki! This page is provided by the generosity of the people at pbwiki.com. Please don't abuse the privilege.

  • This wiki is dedicated to the dissemination of SEF files among EDI professionals for the purpose of creating quality EDI implementation Guidelines. To this end, I have uploaded a Generic v4010.SEF file as a start. I compiled this information from various government and internet resources to use myself.
  • Hint: please make your .SETS definitions *complete*, and if possible, be sure to include the Ordinal Numbers (@) in the definition as well. Yes, I know the Generic v4010.SEF file doesn't have them yet, but it will eventually.

  • Another hint: Be sure to comment whatever you do in the file to make the files more easily modified by others.

  • You can even create a page pointing to your *own* SEF files for your company if you'd like so you can send your customers/suppliers as well.

There is a great paper (the standards definition for SEF files) available from EDIdEv.com or at Foresight Corporation (Foresight created the standards).

and a free viewer is available from http://www.edidev.com/SefReader.htm. Thanks EDIdEv!!

The free viewer, when used with a decent printer (or PDF printer, etc), and the appropriate SEF file, makes a great documentation tool. (I use the free PDF "printer" from PrimoPDF)
